With the rise of the blogging platform I have witnessed a new issue. What do you do if someone is saying unpleasant things about you on their blog and they are determined to spread the word as far and wide as possible?
My philosophical side would tell me to ignore it in the hope that it dies down and without fuel eventually disappears but when it starts affecting your business it becomes pretty serious.
This is not a situation we’ve had to face fortunately, however my good friend and client Mark Attwood has. I, for one don’t want to criticize the author, as I believe more in praise than criticism.
To that affect I have to speak of my experience with Mark.
I first met Mark about 4 years ago, whilst working on a project of his called “Moths Ate My Dr Who Scarf”, an endearing one-man Edinburgh show about a man’s 30 year love affair with Dr Who. I went to his office for a meeting about the project and as soon as I walked in I knew he was one of these ‘larger than life’ characters, bursting with energy you rarely get to meet. We talked for about two hours about everything under the sun but it felt more like 2 minutes. I felt like i’d known him all my life and bizarrely our paths had crossed in many ways without either of us realizing.
Time went on and Mark drifted in and out of my life due to both our busy schedules and modern life being the way it is, however contact with him always seemed significant and appropriately timed. He’s one of those people that has always brought great change in my life for the better.
One day he called me, greatly excited about something. When I got to his house he talked with overwhelming enthusiasm about SEO and how it could help my business. He told me everything I needed to know about SEO, only problem was I didn’t follow his mantra “imperfect action is better than perfect inaction”, hence why it took me until three years down the line to start taking action. I wanted everything to be perfect, the conditions to be just right. There are many things I need to implement and thanks to Mark I have all the tools necessary. Its just down to me now.
He’s been a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. I’ve been amazed with the way he’s dealt with a situation that would have crushed most men yet with him its made him stronger and even more enthusiastic.
Mark, I leave you with a quote by Bob Dylan’s drummer in his first band:
“believe in yourself and never give up”
Simple but very true. All the best
Alex

Thanks, not so much after effects, just Motion in Final Cut Studio 3.
How did you make this template? I got a blog as well and my template looks kinda bad so people don’t stay on my blog very long.
It is adapted from the Wordpress default theme Kubrich. There are hundreds of tutorials on how to adapt theme and each specific element. Just search google with what you’re looking for.
Very dignified approach that you’re taking in what is actually a very difficult situation. Hopefully, the baiting of Mark will cease and life will become more normal once again.
I think that all of the above comments look like comment spam hawking links, but they have not noticed this is a nofollow blog.
Well noticed John. I’d say that with the exception of the Criminal Solicitor comment, at least they said something relevant.
